How ITIL Certification Aided in Job Preservation

Since the beginning of my profession, I’ve worked with technology. I’ve always looked for methods to grow and become more valuable to my company. In pursuit of this goal, I’ve obtained certifications in computer hardware maintenance and operation while working on deskside support and networking for many companies. I have received certificates in CCNA, MCSE, RHCSA, RHCE, and Lean Sigma. I recently completed the Simplilearn ITIL Certification Lifecycle Expert program.

Previously, I was a technical support engineer in a team of 16. My responsibilities included:

  • Providing day-to-day software support.
  • Debugging system performance issues.
  • Network administration.
  • Designing and implementing new repair approaches.
  • I chose the ITIL Certification Expert program because working in IT services requires me to keep current while learning new skills constantly.

The roles and responsibilities

I now lead a staff of almost 40 employees. My responsibilities include managing troubleshooting, system backups, and archiving, acting as a single point of contact for customers and stakeholders, and drafting the roles and responsibilities of subject matter experts and team members to achieve the best service delivery results.

I believe the abilities I gained from Simplilearn’s course curriculum aided me in making this shift. I had always wanted to be a leader, and my training prepared me for my current position.
